Genealogy

  • According to my grandfather’s birth certificate, Paco Abadal was born on 28 July 1875 at Plaça Major number 18 in Manresa. He was the son of Narcissus Serramalera Camps, tinsmith, and Dolors Abadal Cots, member of a family of printers. On the paternal side, he was grandson of Jose Serramalera Constantí, tinsmith, and Antónia Camps Vicens, natives of Manresa but domiciled in Barcelona. On his mother’s side, he was grandson of the Andrés Abadal Soler, printer, who was deceased at the time, and Francisca Cots Argullol, resident in Sallent in the same district; both were natives of Manresa. So by exploring the family trees of his four grandparents, ABADAL SOLER, CAMPS VICENS, COTS ARGULLOL and SERRAMALERA CONSTANTÍ, we will discover my grandfather’s genealogy. The family trees can be accessed using the menu on the right.

The family trees in question are under construction but for the moment we can point out some of the more notable people like the following:

  •        In the ABADAL family tree, Andreu Abadal i Serra, an important printer, born in 1705 in Moia, who was Paco Abadal’s fifth-generation grandfather.

  •        In the SERRAMALERA CONSTANTÍ family tree, the tinsmith, Narciso Serramalera i Camps, father of Paco Abadal, was a versatile person cultivating both arts and sports.

  •    In the COTS ARGULLOL tree, industrialist Francesc Cots i Argullol, who founded the Casa de Caritat in Manresa, was Paco Abadal’s great-uncle.
